Huronia Handweavers First Juried Show
Twenty-two members of the Huronia Handweavers took part in the Guild’s first juried show. There were twenty-eight woven items submitted and all were accepted into the show. The theme for the show was “Seasons….To Everything There is a Season……”
A special thanks goes to Marian Riach for suggesting having a juried show and for all the work she did organizing the show.
Diane Woods from Burlington was the juror. She was extremely impressed with the quality of the weaving submitted. Diane had the difficult job of deciding who would receive the awards.
There were eight awards presented.
They are as follows:
1) Best Interpretation of the Theme: Julie Legere
2) The Elaine Brusselers Memorial Award for the Best Use of Colour: Jette Vandermeiden
3) The Lyn Egsgard Memorial Award for the Best Finishing: Susan Barker
4) The Huronia Handweavers Novice Award (less than 3 years of weaving): Lois Cockerill
5) The Ontario Handweavers & Spinners Novice Award (less than 2 years of weaving): Cathy Richards

Marian Riach & Cathy Wilson looked after getting all the information prepared for the brochure which the Museum generously produced.
Julie Legere looked getting the congratulation cards & cheques ready for presentation at the Guild meeting.
The Show was on display at the Simcoe County Museum in the hallway from October 9th to November 12th, 2018.
Special thanks goes out to the Simcoe County Museum staff for all their help with this show and for printing such an attractive brochure.
